The First Local Committee Meeting

AIESEC has finally achieved its wheels, is running fast on the runway and is ready to take off any time soon! The very first Local Committee Meeting (LCM) of AIESEC Agra was held on 24th April, 2011. About 30 young, vivacious individuals filled up to the brim with fresh, innovative ideas gathered together at a terrific venue: a fellow AIESECer Suyash Gupta’s residence. The energy resonating in his garden where the members were seated was quite apparent.

The meeting started off with a brief warm-up session where the members interacted with each other. After everybody was comfortable enough, the four departments: Corporate, DT, Projects & Events and Outgoing Exchange took turns to stand in the middle and give updates. This entailed them to share with others everything that their department had done so far. Since it is just the beginning, it basically involved making the database and contacting people.

The members started off by shouting out their respective department roll calls in order to bring out a spirit of team work and camaraderie. After listening to all the updates, the members cheered and clapped and were filled with a stronger sense of enthusiasm and vigour to know that the operations had finally kicked in and it was time to get more work done. The members discussed a few other tasks that had to be taken care of and how they would go about it. One of the members read out the mail provided to them by the Local Committee Coordinator which clearly mentioned the targets they had to achieve and the different job roles each member would get. The different departments then discussed their modus operandi separately so as to decide what each member will do individually.
Towards the end, everyone talked about the events they are most likely to organize in the near future. The members were evidently overflowing with brilliant proposals and ideas which seemed full of potential and promise to make this endeavour a success.

The LCM proved to be like a kick start to this exciting expansion of AIESEC in Agra; and everybody became familiar with the basic tasks at hand. The members went home feeling excited and enthusiastic. It has begun. The AIESECers of Agra have started flapping their wings, now all they need to do is fly, and soar high into the sky!
